We are all about collaboration. With the participant's consent, we will share observations, barriers identified, solutions found and progress with you regularly. We understand that it is frustrating not hearing about what's going on for weeks or months sometimes. We believe that by engaging in collaboration helps you to do your role better and will lead to improved outcomes for the participant. When we identify a barrier that is outside of our scope of practice, e.g. requires OT input, we will communicate the information to you to enable you to coordinate the support.
We are transparent with out pricing and are accountable to working within the set budget. We understand that the NDIS is a complex system to navigate and commit to not adding to that complexity by being reckless with the budget. As mentioned above, we are all about collaboration. We strive to be proactive rather than reactive and communicate any problems with you early so that you can thrive in your role.
We acknowledge that in many circumstances, you may have the best understanding of the participant's will and preference. We will listen to and value this information. We know that supported decision-making and prioritsing the participant's will and preference is an important tool that can increase self-determination, increase interconnectedness and create more supportive and safer environments.
We know from the Disability Royal Commission's findings and recommendations that this sharing of power between the participant and their support, through tools like supported decision-making, lessens vulnerability and is a form of active prevention of exploitation, violence, neglect and abuse. This aligns with our rights-based model of support as the Disability Royal Commission also found that raising awareness of disability rights in an enabler for change to prevent exploitation, violence, neglect and abuse.
Supporting participants and their circles of support to understand and actually exercise their rights enables them to create their own minimum expectations for interactions with services. This challenges some traditional, paternalistic hierarchies of power that historically view those giving support as more and those receiving support as less. We endeavor to balance this imbalance of power to create safe and supportive environments.
We also understand that the NDIS is a complex framework. Navigating and managing budgets and plan reviews can be stressful. We believe that our service provides excellent value for money compared to other services that don't invest in training and development of their team. We believe that by providing skilled, committed and reliable support that we won't add to the stress and complexity that is sometimes associated with the NDIS. Rather than create problems, we try to be the solver of problems.
